A sunny day in Cuenca found 45 women gathered for our 2nd networking event. This was a luncheon on the top floor of the El Presidente Hotel with stunning 180 degree views of Cuenca.
In addition to a wonderful lunch and self-introductions by each attendee, Martha Mays (Golden Girl) gave a brief overview of the history of Ecuador. Did you know the Incas had only conquered Ecuador 75 years before the Spanish Conquistadores arrived? The program also included sharing lists of English-speaking doctors and a pronunciation guide (English/Spanish) of herbs and spices. To top it off, 8 local businesses contributed wonderful gift certificates - jewelry, dinners for 2, European facials - so we had FUN with a raffle. 25 copies of my book - now printed in English & in paperback here in Cuenca - sold. Women who have started small businesses here also advertised their services - teaching Spanish, professional singer for parties, tour guide, B&B, beauty salon....and more! It was informative & fun!
